Antefixes, are carved ornaments that used to be placed at the eaves of a tile roof and concealed the joints between tiles. They appeared in Greece at the late 1800’s early 1900’s.
This beautiful antique Greek Antefix is a collective one. It is a typical example of the 1900’s. It has two double spirals, a coned flower an anthemion. It is said that these kind of antefixes were inspired by the Parthenon’s marble ones.
It is in good antique condition with traces of time typical of its age.
This charming Greek anthemion antefix is a unique piece for your antique/vintage home decoration!
